- bringing Samsung screens onto the same management, scheduling and reporting model already used for the rest of the fleet;
- maintaining reliable, synchronized video on Tizen devices.
Solution
Fingoweb handled the full scope of Samsung Tizen TV app development for IMS Sensory Media, building a dedicated Tizen player application that connects commercial Samsung displays directly to the TCAdvert content management system.
The application removes the need for Samsung’s native MagicInfo software and its separately licensed Remote Management layer. Instead of routing Samsung screens through MagicInfo and paying per-device Remote Management licences, the displays connect to the same in-house platform that drives the rest of the IMS network. Content scheduling, device management and reporting for Samsung hardware now happen in exactly the same place, and in the same way, as for every other screen.
The application was engineered to run consistently across four generations of the operating system – Tizen 4.0, 5.0, 6.5 and 7.0 – so that older and newer Samsung devices can sit side by side in the network and be treated identically.
Like the other players in the TCAdvert ecosystem, the Tizen app connects to the central platform, downloads its assigned media files and playback schedule, and starts playing campaigns on its own. It works autonomously and loads the schedule in advance, which allows screens to keep displaying content for a set period even after losing connection.
For content played on Samsung Tizen screens, the app enables:
- displaying video content and graphics;
- mixing video materials with images;
- playing media in a loop;
- audio-video synchronization between the TV and an audio player;
- video-video synchronization with other TVs;
- arranging campaigns with overlapping schedules and different priority levels;
- controlling devices through the client’s own CMS instead of Samsung Remote Management.
Through this Samsung Tizen TV app development project, Fingoweb gave IMS Sensory Media full ownership of its Samsung displays. They run as a fully integrated part of one custom CMS, on equal footing with every other player IMS operates.
